History of the AACA

Arden Arcade Community Alliance, a nonprofit organization, was formed in January 2003. Our mission is to promote a sense of community that will unite Arden Arcade, to undertake civic improvement activities, and to provide a place to learn about projects and actions affecting Arden Arcade. This is a non-partisan, non-sectarian, non-political organization open to all Arden Arcade residents, business owners and operators, and representatives of community-based organizations and public agencies. Monthly meetings open to all are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

  • March: Russell Fehr, Sacramento County Budget Analyst, speaking about the County Budget
  • April: Dave Cox, Republican Assembly Leader and Representative of 95 % of Arden Arcade speaking about the State Budget Crisis
  • May: Bill Hughes (deceased), Chair of SACOG and Mayor of Citrus Heights, discussing SACOGs impact on Arden Arcade
  • June: Fire Chief Rick Martinez, Sacramento Metro Fire District, discussing the closing of the Fire District stations and building of new stations
  • July: Peter Brundage, Executive Director of LAFCo, discussing annexation and incorporation
  • August: Supervisor Muriel Johnson, Third District Supervisor, discussing a variety of topics affecting Arden Arcade
  • September: Bob Kent, Rancho Del Paso Historical Society, discussing the early history of Arden Arcade
  • November: Melinda Eppler, Executive Director, Fulton Avenue Association speaking about the improvements on Fulton Avenue and future plans for this corridor
  • December: Charley Berger Assistant Superintendent, and Estelle Werve, School Board Member, San Juan Unified School District, discussing the school district and its policies

  • January: Dr. Beverly Scott, General Manager, Sacramento Regional Transit, discussing RT service in Arden Arcade and the rest of Sacramento County.
  • March: Paul Lake, Interim Director, Sacramento County Neighborhood Services Department, presenting the Municipal Services Plan for the unincorporated county communities.
  • April: Administrators from the Arden Arcades four Recreation and Park Districts: Arden Manor, Arden Park, Fulton El Camino, Mission Oaks, discussing the programs offered by the districts and the impact of the State budget crisis on the park districts.
  • May: Tour of the Fulton Avenue Department of Human Assistance Building, 2700 Fulton Avenue
  • June: Captain Don Devlin, Commander of the North Central Division and Lieutenant Milo Fitch, Sac County Sheriffs Department presenting their vision for the Sheriffs Department work in Arden Arcade
  • July: Mike Penrose, Sacramento County Transportation Department speaking about transportation and public works projects impacting Arden Arcade
  • August: Tim Cahill and Representatives of Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce speaking about the Arden Arcade Business Council

Community Activities hosted by the Alliance:

  • Two Candidates Forums (January 12 and February 10, 2004) with candidates for County Supervisor 3rd District. The League of Women Voters moderated.
